Bailey, 26, has earned a Gold Glove in each of the past two seasons and now joins a Cleveland squad that already features Austin Hedges and Bo Naylor behind the plate. The Guardians immediately optioned Naylor to Triple-A Columbus.
So far this season, Bailey is batting .146 with one home run and five RBIs in 30 games for the Giants. Over his career with San Francisco, he has posted a .224 average with 22 homers and 154 RBIs in 383 games.
“From incredible defense to unforgettable walk-off home runs, we thank you, Patrick, and wish you the best,” the Giants posted on social media.
Wilkinson, 23, has a 1-2 record with a 1.59 ERA in six starts this season at Double-A Akron. He was originally drafted by Cleveland in the 10th round of the 2023 MLB Draft.
