At the Meazza, they dream of dressing him in black and blue, but they know they are up against a Real Madrid that holds the upper hand—yet has decisions to make.

In Italy, they believe Real Madrid’s decision on whether to buy back Nico Paz will depend on the new coach and his plans for the Argentine. They wonder if having Mou on the Bernabéu bench could make a transfer to Inter easier.

But to do so, Inter must convince Real Madrid that a transfer would benefit the Spanish club. And the Italian side is working on it, according to the same newspaper, with two options on the table: “One involves an expensive loan with a generous purchase option. Alternatively, Inter could offer an immediate buyout. The price would still be around €40-50 million.”

Not everyone in Italy is optimistic about keeping Nico Paz in the Calcio. “I would jump for joy if he came to Inter, but he’s too expensive for Italy,” said Arturo Di Napoli, a former Inter player and veteran of several Italian clubs, who sees little chance of retaining the Argentine: “Ours is a different league; I think right now he deserves to be at Real Madrid. Given the difficulties of Italian football, it’s unlikely he stays. If our football doesn’t change, he’s destined to leave.”
Inter, however, will try everything. Even calling in personal favors. “Perhaps a new move by Zanetti, a lifelong friend of Nico’s father Pablo Paz, could tip the balance in favor of the nerazzurri,” Corriere jokes (or not).
